Puck--My Other Excuse

For why I've been a bit absent over the last couple of weeks! Here's the first video of my new puppy--and one of the first videos I edited. It's fantastic, having a new puppy, but also time consuming, exhausting and distracting. Add to that a couple of writing deadlines...and well...some days it's been all I do to maintain the basics. Some days I've been in survival mode.

So I haven't written nearly as much as I've wanted to--insert guilt and shame here--but have also realized over the last couple of days that Puck won't be a puppy forever. And I'm learning an editing program. And I've found the back of my brain has been working on my w.i.p., now that I have a few moments to return to it.

I'm working on forgiving myself and not offering excuses, because what good do they do? But I had to post this one...because he's so cute!

  1. I love how one ear is up and the other is down! He's so precious. :)

Great editing :) I like the fade ins and fade outs between scenes.

  2. Aubrie, alas, now both ears are up! (We knew that would happen.)

    And thanks!

  3. Aw, he's so cute. I remember when Shiner's ears were "in motion."

  4. He is such a cutie!
As I watched your video, the rat terrier who lives behind me was greeting someone walking by, so I had authentic sound.
Now...tell me...was there supposed to be sound with this and I don't have my system set up right?
You are right, your mind is working on your WIP in the bg and this break will renew you, as will having Puck, that energetic bundle of fur and flesh and curiosity, in your life!

  9. Cool puppy. Our dog is like 100 in people years so thse days are well behind him. And I understand about the exhaustion. I'm feeling it too these days as I refine my MS.

  13. He's certainly lovable and adorable! Worth the sacrifice in your available time, I'd say...

Does he always have one ear up and the other down? I've never seen that before, in a sustained way.

Have fun and enjoy the journey, Conda! You're right: it will go fast.

Great job, and that little guy is as cute as can be. I am so partial to little dogs. I love them.

My daughter just got two little kittens and they are so energetic, just like your little guy. I am forwarding your post to her. I know she'll love it.

    happy trails.

  18. Swu, me too, obviously--especially little dogs who believe they're as big as Great Danes--like Puck!
