Tis the Season...

He's stalking me.

...to be overwhelmed. Isn't it? This year has been particularly frantic and frenetic. First, at the start of the month, we traveled to Texas for my niece's college graduation, which was fantastic, but took the first week of December away, so I started out behind. Second, two short stories of mine were published end of November/beginning of December from two different publishers, one in the anthology Dreamspell Nightmares and my story Changing Woman Ways. I've got another story coming out in another anthology soon, plus an article. This means I need to be promoting my new and soon-to-be releases and self promotion is so hard for me! Hmm...perhaps it is for every writer--and a subject for a separate post.

Is there anyone out there in blog land not struggling with the season?Of course, the entire world doesn't have the overkill (and I do mean "kill") of Christmas that we do here in the States... but many people do celebrate the season. How do you still write, create, survive? And perhaps even enjoy?

On a completely different note: I've had a few requests about how to add the "Share" buttons at the bottoms of my posts--I haven't answered these requests because I can't remember! I was ditzing around and fell upon the way to do this by accident and the buttons showed up! Can anybody out there help?

Completely overwhelmed, Conda. Nowhere near ready for the holidays, which are upon us. Haven't written in forever. Boxes still not unpacked. Pictures not hung. Insurance not changed. On and on and on.

But at least I'm not alone! Many congrats on your stories - that's a great reason to be behind!

Hope you find some spare time this week...

I'm so impressed at the number of stories you have out...there are more to come!
I'm also impressed because I figured out how to add the share buttons! Go to your blog, select design. When the page comes up, there's a place under posts to click on Edit. Then you get the chance to add the share buttons! I just did.

Congrats on your stories! And on your trip to Texas. Were you anywhere near San Antonio?

Congratulations on publishing your stories. I'm juggling book tour, day job and renovating the flat. I feel white hair is growing daily. For the share button, I think just go to design in blogger and select a gadget.

Beth, good to know I'm not alone this season, either!

And yes, pubbed stories are a great reason to be behind...but I've got to write more and send 'em out!

Kathy, thanks! I knew it was something simple about the buttons.

Hi Conda. Thanks for squeezing in commenting on my blog in between all of your activites. Nice to meet a fellow contributor to Killer Recipes. Now if we only had the time to try them all out. This was a great post. Thanks for sharing.

I admit I'm struggling. Actually crashing and burning. I'm supposed to be taking a break from blogging, but, well ... not doing a very good job. Have a great and blessed holiday season!

Carol--Closest was Austin for my niece's college graduation. I've never been to San Antonio but have always wanted to go!

Enid, good luck on your tour!

Yes, Conda, it is possible to have writing time during this season. But several factors need to be in place: you need to be retired from a daily job; you need to live near an adult offspring who loves the Christmas hustle and expects nothing of you but attendance at the various festivities she arranges at her house; you need to have relatively little emotional investment in impressing anyone with your gifts either family or friends; and it helps if you aren't religious. All those are factors I enjoy. I did the shopping and wrapping last week. This week I have time to assess the writing I did this year, consider what should be submitted, what I should work on and what I want to write. I'm very peaceful. Tonight I'll do the family bit and tomorrow after about 11:00 more festivities. Then it's over and my time is my own. No stress. Blessed! It's all about not giving a damn about tradition.
